Why isn’t my show/audition opportunity in the newsletter?
While we do our best to be as comprehensive as possible when it comes to scouring social media and theatre company websites for information, sometimes a show will not come across our desks! To ensure we hear about your show or audition opportunity, please use this form for Columbus Theatre News and this form for Columbus Theatre News: Youth Edition.
Is the opportunity to be featured in the newsletter limited to Columbus only?
Columbus Theatre News includes suburbs as well, though shows in and closer to the city of Columbus take precedence if the newsletter hits its limit.
Do you advertise high school shows?
We do not currently feature high school shows due to the volume of professional and community productions that are featured in the newsletter. If opportunities to grow the newsletter further arise, we may include high schools in the future.
Are you on social media?
The newsletter started as an initiative geared towards folks who were leaving social media and wanted to stay connected to the theatre community. In that spirit, we do not have a social media presence, though individuals involved will post about the website/newsletter from time to time to draw more traffic!
If you are interested in social media, Columbus Stage Times maintains an Instagram account with weekly information about local productions.
Why are the adult and kids’ shows separate?
Our newsletter platform, Substack, has a recommended limit before emails are truncated in readers’ inboxes. We have also found that these are sometimes two very different audiences. To create the best reader experience from both a technical and content perspective, we have separated these out.
Does it cost anything to subscribe?
Subscription to the newsletter is free! Any screens that ask you to pledge money are optional and can be skipped. If you do feel inclined to contribute to the people and operations that keep the newsletter going, you can pledge your support on a monthly or yearly basis directly through your Substack subscription.
